BlackBerry ogłosiło dziś nawiązanie partnerstwa z Foxcon, w ramach którego obydwie firmy wspólnie będą projektować oraz tworzyć urządzenia. Początkowo pierwszym rynkiem, na który kierowane będą nowe produkty będzie rynek Indonezji.
Kanadyjska firma ma przy tym zachować pełne prawo do tworzonych w ten sposób urządzeń, włącznie z kontrolą jakości produktów, podobnie jak odbywa się to w przypadku dotychczasowych partnerów BlackBerry. Nowe telefony będą tworzone w fabrykach w Indonezji oraz Meksyku. Pierwsze efekty tej współpracy powinny trafić na rynek już na początku przyszłego roku.
Współpraca ma potrwać co najmniej 5 lat.

The initial focus of the partnership will be a smartphone for Indonesia and other fast-growing markets targeting early 2014.

Under the partnership, Foxconn will manufacture products for BlackBerry at facilities in Indonesia and Mexico. BlackBerry will own all of its intellectual property and perform product assurance on devices through the Foxconn partnership, as it does currently with all third-party manufacturers.
